Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then found multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.
An important representative said the vandalism left him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in five years prior.
